A Review of the Conrad Bora Bora Nui Resort

A Review of the Conrad Bora Bora Nui Resort

For those of you that follow us on social media, you probably know that we have just returned from a week at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa. Since we are all still trying to adjust back to reality after a week of tropical bliss, we figured it was the perfect excuse to get lost in our pictures and feature this luxury resort on Bora Bora. Continue reading below for an insider’s look at this resort and what to expect when you visit.

The Conrad is known for creating uniquely luxurious experiences around the globe by crafting a sophisticated, yet locally-inspired atmosphere and their Bora Bora location is just that! With subtle touches of French Polynesia found in the rooms and throughout the resort, you do feel that you are indeed in the South Pacific yet still have the comfort of the sleek and modern sophistication that today’s luxury resorts are known for.

Rooms

Arriving to the resort’s dock by boat, you can immediately feel your troubles lift away. With check-in taken care of on the boat ride, you are whisked onto a golf cart and taken to your room right away so that you don’t waste a second of your precious vacation time. These villas will absolutely take your breath away (definitely a sight for sore eyes after an overnight flight)! Your bed looks directly out to the ocean view and the newly-installed accordion doors allow you to completely open up your villa from wall to wall and let the warm, tropical breezes of Bora Bora fill your room. Insider Tip: If you’re exhausted upon arrival like we were, put on your SPF and head out to the catamaran nets on your deck for the perfect little nap!

The decks are just as spacious as the rooms and have direct access to the lagoon below! Grab a snorkel mask from the pool and get to know your new neighbors below you! We found that we saw the most animals out and about as we were enjoying our morning espressos. The snorkeling was fantastic and looks to only get better as the Conrad is focused on restoring coral gardens around the property. The Conrad also has hillside villas, a completely unique option for Bora Bora with unparalleled panoramic views of the ocean and sunset. Looking for something slightly more luxurious? The Conrad Bora Bora Nui is home to the only two-story overwater villas in Tahiti, the Presidential Villas. Book one of these lavish accommodations to enjoy your own 2-bedroom private retreat complete with a pool, sauna and jacuzzi. Insider Tip: You can still enjoy the Presidential Villa sunset view even if you are staying in a different room category! Our best sunset views of the week were the days that we walked to the end of the pontoon in between the two villas to sit and watch the sunset.

Dining

Breakfast Buffet - 01.jpg

If you’re a big fan of breakfast, this is the place for you! We were greeted in the morning by a sizeable buffet that included steamed buns, poisson cru, homemade yogurt, freshly squeezed fruit juices, eggs, bacon, cheeses and a very large selection of breads and pastries. Let’s just say we probably consumed our body weight in brioche pastries, French toast and crepes. One of our favorite things about Tahiti is the remarkable freshness of the fruit and juices and the Conrad Bora Bora Nui did not let us down there! Insider Tip: Take your favorite juice to go with you from breakfast and enjoy later on in the day - ideal for an afternoon spent soaking up the sun on your deck!

During the day, you can’t go wrong with the swim-up pool bar! Personally, we can’t get enough of them - a perfect way to cool off and give your skin a break from that tropical sun. The burgers were gigantic and delicious and the tuna tartare with whipped avocado on top was to die for. Looking for an afternoon refreshment? Ask Warren to make you something tropical - trust us when we say you will not be disappointed.

Upa Upa Bar & Lounge (3).jpg

One of the most exciting additions to the Conrad Bora Bora Nui is their glass-floor bar and lounge, the Upa Upa Bar! We were fortunate to try it out one night and it is sure to become a Bora Bora hot spot! The tuna and swordfish sashimi appetizers truly melt in your mouth and their mobile bartender comes to your table to make your drink tableside. With the coral restoration projects that the resort is undertaking, there should be plenty of action in the sea to glimpse through the floor as you sip on your cocktail. Not only is this a perfect pre-dinner spot (we’re talking full panoramic sunset view), this is also a wonderful apres-dinner spot for cigars and digestifs.

Although there was only one restaurant open for dinner while we were there, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the menu! There were enough options that no one was bored of the menu at the end of the week. When you travel to Tahiti, taking advantage of the fresh fish is an absolute must - one of our favorites is their tuna. There is definitely a reason why it’s one of their biggest exports! The Conrad also found a way to incorporate fish cleverly into dishes, such as their Seafood Penne Pasta. Looking for something closer to home? Their pizza and macaroni were extremely good as well!

Activities

The Conrad Bora Bora Nui has done a wonderful job of allowing you to do as much or as little as you would like during your visit. And there were certainly days where posting up by the pool, in the pool chaise lounges, or under an umbrella on the beach with a good book was just what we were craving. However, on the other days we found that there was plenty to do!

Pool Cabana View.JPG

As we said earlier, the snorkeling is fantastic either off your villa’s deck or in front of the resort’s beach. If you prefer to stay above the water, grab one of the resort’s four paddleboards or a kayak and explore the lagoon! If you need a break from the water, the resort’s mini golf course is a fun way to spend the afternoon (this is where your juice from breakfast comes in handy!) Insider Tip: Go out on the resort’s Hobie Cat with Tini (who hails from Huahine). A fantastic and warm personality who has been sailing the South Pacific seas since he was a young child, you’ll be amazed at the stories you will hear!

Overall, we greatly enjoyed our time spent at this new luxury resort in Bora Bora. At the end of the week, we left tan (perhaps slightly sunburned in some areas) and relaxed which is exactly how you should feel after a week spent in paradise.
